Our client is a global financial services business with a significant and growing Sydney presence. They are hiring a Legal Counsel to sit within an established, high-performing legal team supporting the business across the region.

This is a genuine first move in-house for a banking and finance lawyer, or a step up for someone already in a financial services legal function.

The role
Drafting, negotiating and managing derivatives and financing documentation
Supporting current product and current market initiatives across Asia Pacific
Advising on licensing, market conduct and regulatory obligations alongside compliance and risk
Reviewing technology, data and vendor agreements
Acting as a commercial adviser to business, technology and operations teams on live issues, often at pace
Working closely with legal colleagues offshore on cross border matters

About you




3 to 6 years PQE gained at a top tier or leading international firm
Solid general banking and finance grounding. Derivatives, securities, structured finance, funds or financial services regulatory exposure all of interest
Familiarity with the regulatory framework applying to financial markets participants
Commercially minded, direct, and comfortable giving practical advice without layers of process
Admitted in Australia
