About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and strategic Leader to become the next Scheduling and Control Team Leader.
In this critical role, you will oversee the scheduling function across multiple projects and programmes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable schedules that underpin successful outcomes.
You will manage a team of schedulers, develop and refine scheduling practices, and act as a trusted advisor to senior management for decision-making support.
This position offers a unique prospect to lead transformational change, embedding best practices in project controls and scheduling within a dynamic environment committed to continual improvement.Your responsibilities include leading the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules, establishing governance for baseline and change management, and driving schedule quality through industry-standard techniques like Earned Value Management and dependency management.
You will collaborate with project managers, vendors, and external stakeholders, fostering positive relationships to ensure alignment and effective communication across the organisation.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and develop the scheduling and controlling team, defining strategic direction and overseeing day-to-day activitiesEstablish and enforce scheduling standards, including baseline and change control processesSupport the development of integrated master schedules,
ensuring cross-portfolio dependency tracking and risk managementImplement schedule performance metrics such as Schedule Performance Index and Earned Value Management toolsDrive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise scheduling and project controls practicesCollaborate with internal teams and external vendors to maintain schedule data integrity and qualityProvide insights and reports on schedule health, progress, and risks to senior leadershipMentor team members, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional growthWhat You Will BringFormal tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, or a related fieldA minimum of 10 years of experience in project scheduling and control within complex, enterprise environmentsExtensive knowledge of scheduling techniques including Earned Value Management, Dependency Management, and Rolling Wave PlanningProven experience leading and developing high-performing scheduling teamsStrong expertise with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft ProjectDeep understanding of project frameworks such as PMBoK, MSP, Agile PMExceptional stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence at senior levelsAnalytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insightsProfessional accreditation such as PMI-SP, AACE PSPS, or similar will be highly regardedAdditional AttributesDemonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standardsA customer-centric approach with a focus on stakeholder satisfactionCapacity to manage multiple priorities and foster a culture of continuous improvementOther RequirementsAustralian citizenship or permanent residency essentialWillingness to travel within Australia as requiredAbility to work effectively within a disciplined governance environmentPaxus values diversity and welcomes applications from Indigenous Australians, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people living with a disability.
