Job Description
As the primary role responsible for delivering services directly to our customers, the Motor Mechanic is integral to the day-to-day operation of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing and testing light vehicles to ensure they are maintained to manufacturer specifications and roadworthy standards.

Key responsibilities
n
Discuss problems with car drivers or vehicle operators to uncover faults
n
Listen to engines, fitting and operating special test equipment
n
Test drive vehicles
n
Detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts
n
Fit and operate special test equipment
n
Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear systems
n
Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, using various instruments to make sure they are working properly and refit to the vehicle
n
Tune engines using special electronic equipment and make fine adjustments for smoother running
n
Carry out minor body and trim repairs
n
Diagnose, repair, and replace engine management and fuel injection components
n
Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition and electronic fuel injection
n
Perform scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes,
lubrications and engine tune-ups
n
Inspect vehicles and schedule work required to obtain roadworthiness
n
Assist in training and oversee work carried out by apprentices

Selection Criteria
n
Qualification: Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology or above
n
Experience: Minimum of three years of work experience working as Motor Mechanic; Experience working with different brands of vehicles is valued
n
Skills:
n
Driver's licence is essential
n
Comprehensive knowledge of all automobiles
n
Competent in reading manuals
n
Understanding of the relevant Regulations and Codes of Practice
n
The ability to solve problems
n
The ability to work in a team-oriented workplace
n
The ability to think technically and logically
n
The ability to cater to and understand customer needs
