The Opportunity

Sands Fridge Lines (Sands) is seeking a motivated and reliable Mechanical Trade Assistant to join our experienced workshop team at our Forrestfield depot.
n
Working alongside qualified mechanics and trades personnel, you will play an important role in supporting the servicing, maintenance, and repair of our up-to-date fleet of rigid trucks, prime movers, and trailing equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their mechanical experience, develop new skills, and establish a long-term career within a leading WA transport and logistics business.

Key Responsibilities

Assist mechanics with servicing, maintenance, and repairs of heavy vehicles and trailers
n
Support workshop operations to ensure maximum fleet reliability and availability
n
Prepare tools, equipment, and parts required for maintenance activities
n
Carry out basic mechanical tasks under supervision
n
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
n
Follow all company safety procedures and workshop standards
n
Assist with workshop housekeeping and general duties as required
n

Requirements

About You
n
n
Previous experience in a workshop, automotive, transport, or mechanical environment (preferred)
n
Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools and equipment
n
A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
n
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
n
Good attention to detail and commitment to safety
n
Reliable and punctual attendance
n
Full Australian working rights
n
A current driver's licence and reliable transport to & from work
n
Experience working with trucks, trailers, or heavy vehicles
n
HR Licence (or willingness to obtain)
n
Mechanical pre-apprenticeship or related trade exposure
n
