Monday to Friday, up to 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight

Pro rata amount of $107,143 - $111,619 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation

Your new role
n
Are you an analytical thinker with the desire to build your understanding of accounting functions within a Local Government environment? Council is seeking a motivated Accountant to join the Assets and GIS unit.
n
You will utilise your specialist skills to ensure asset accounting functions are undertaken in accordance with Council's Operational Plan, policies and procedures.
n
This position will be the key liaison point between the engineering and accounting fields therefore strong communication skills are essential.
n
Your attention to detail will allow you to effectively refine, review and finalise the capitalisation process of capital works projects across nominated asset classes.
n

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

You will possess a relevant tertiary qualification and have the ability to interpret relevant legislation and Australian Accounting Standards
n
Ability to rapidly learn new systems and processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
n
Understanding of asset accounting and management reporting.
n
Ability to work together with others to achieve common goals both within immediate team and teams across Council.

Application Criteria
n
n
Degree qualification in Business (Accounting major) with knowledge and experience in financial, management and/or asset accounting.
n
Demonstrated ability to analyse financial and asset data, apply relevant legislation and Australian Accounting Standards and complete asset accounting functions.
n
Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing workloads effectively.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of financial reports, workpapers and stakeholder correspondence.
