The Role
Wilderness School is seeking an outstanding educational leader to provide strategic, whole-school leadership of learning and teaching across R–12
Reporting directly to the Principal and as a member of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, the Deputy Principal – Learning & Teaching will lead the continued development of high-quality teaching, curriculum and assessment, ensuring effective learning in every classroom, for every student, every day
Working in partnership with Heads of School, Heads of Faculty and other senior leaders, you will shape the strategic direction of curriculum, strengthen teacher capability and professional practice, and use evidence and data to drive improvement in student learning
The role also holds significant whole-school responsibility for the R–12 timetable, teaching workforce planning and deployment, and the recruitment and leadership of teaching staff.
The Deputy Principal will deputise for the Principal as required and maintain a teaching component

The Opportunity
In this role, you will:
Set and lead the strategic direction of curriculum, learning and teaching across R–12
Lead Heads of Faculty to strengthen curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and student learning
Use internal and external data to identify priorities and drive continuous improvement




Lead professional learning and collaboration to build the capability of teachers and leaders
Oversee the construction and strategic management of the whole-school R–12 timetable
Lead teaching workforce planning, recruitment, deployment and performance
Contribute to whole-school strategy and decision-making as a member of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams
Deputise for the Principal as required
These responsibilities reflect the breadth of the position description, including leadership of Heads of Faculty and learning data, professional learning, the R–12 timetable and teaching workforce
You Are
An accomplished educational leader with significant school leadership experience
A strategic leader of curriculum, pedagogy and contemporary teaching practice
Experienced in leading, coaching and developing teachers and educational leaders
Confident using evidence, research and student learning data to inform improvement
Experienced in whole-school timetabling, workforce planning and the deployment of teaching staff
A highly relational and collaborative leader who builds trust and brings others with them through change
Strategic, organised and able to successfully navigate the complexity of a senior whole-school leadership role
Committed to the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Priorities of Wilderness School
Applicants must hold appropriate academic qualifications and maintain registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia.
Experience in a girls' school environment is desirable
