Job Description
Job Title: Preparation Technician

Location: Ipswich

Salary: GBP from £30,000 - £32,000 Per Annum

Key Responsibilities
n
As a Preparation Technician, Your Primary Responsibility Will Be To Prepare Vehicles To a High Standard For Sale Or Delivery. This Includes Conducting Routine Maintenance, Servicing, Inspections, And Mechanical Repairs On a Variety Of Vehicles. You Will Be Expected To
n

Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify any mechanical issues or necessary repairs, ensuring all work meets the dealership's high standards.
n
Carry out routine servicing tasks, including oil changes, brake checks, and tyre rotations, using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle performance.
n
Collaborate closely with the wider workshop team to ensure that all vehicles are completed efficiently and safely, adhering to health and safety regulations.
n
Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each task, to ensure transparency and accountability.
n
Uphold excellent standards of workmanship, demonstrating a keen attention to detail in every aspect of your work.
n
Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative team workplace.

Requirements
n
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
n
n
Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician or Prep Technician, ideally within a dealership environment.
n
Strong mechanical knowledge and a solid understanding of automotive systems and components.
n
Proven ability to carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
n
Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of pride in your workmanship, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the best of your ability.
n
Ability to work effectively in a busy workshop environment, managing time and priorities to meet deadlines.
n
A professional and reliable approach to work, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
n
A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
n
Relevant automotive qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, are desirable and will be considered an advantage.
n
n
Nice to Have
n
n
Experience with diagnostic equipment and software, such as OBD-II scanners, to troubleshoot and resolve vehicle issues.
n
Familiarity with electric and hybrid vehicle systems, as the automotive industry increasingly shifts towards alternative fuel technologies.
n
Additional certifications, such as those from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) or similar, would be beneficial.
n
