The Opportunity
n
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager - Building Management Systems (BMS) to join our Melbourne team and lead the delivery of complex automation and integrated building solutions across major commercial and mission-critical projects.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced BMS Project Manager, Project Engineer, Controls Engineer, or Building Automation specialist looking to take ownership of high-profile projects while working with market-leading technology and a globally recognised brand.
n
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of BMS and Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) projects, from design and engineering through to commissioning, client handover, and project close-out.
n
Working closely with customers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Be Doing
n
n
Lead the successful delivery of BMS and IBMS projects from concept through to completion
n
Manage design, procurement, installation, testing,
commissioning, and project documentation activities
n
Drive project performance across scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety outcomes
n
Build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders
n
Lead project teams and subcontractors to achieve successful delivery milestones
n
Oversee system integration, FATs, SATs, commissioning activities, and building optimisation
n
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
n
Manage project financials including forecasting, cost control, reporting, and commercial outcomes
n
Prepare and maintain project quality and compliance documentation
n
Identify opportunities to improve project execution, standardisation, and operational efficiency
n
Champion a strong safety culture aligned with Johnson Controls' values and standards
n

What We're Looking For
n
We're interested in professionals who bring strong technical and project delivery experience within building automation, controls, HVAC, or smart building environments.
n
Essential
n
n
Trade qualification in Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical Services, or an Engineering degree
n
Proven experience delivering Building Management System (BMS/BAS) projects
n
Strong understanding of building controls, automation architecture, and system design
n
Experience managing project budgets, timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations
n
Knowledge of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handling systems, and plant optimisation
n
Experience with commissioning, FATs, SATs, and system handovers
n
Strong communication,
customer engagement, and leadership skills
n
Sound understanding of quality, compliance, and safety requirements
n
n
Highly Desirable
n
n
Experience delivering Integrated Building Management Systems (IBMS)
n
Exposure to mission-critical environments such as data centres, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or advanced manufacturing
n
Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, OPC, MQTT, and other industry communication protocols
n
Understanding of IT networks, cybersecurity, and connected building technologies
n
Experience with BIM, AutoCAD, Visio, and engineering documentation platforms
n
Energy efficiency, smart buildings, or building performance optimisation experience
n
