About the role The EALD and Aboriginal Languages Unit, within the Curriculum Directorate of Curriculum and Learning Division, supports EALD learners to accelerate their English language development through three key programs: the EALD General Support Program, the Intensive English Language Program, and the EALD Hub Project.
The Intensive English Language Program Manager oversees the operation and delivery of the Intensive English Language and New Arrivals programs (IELP/NAP) across the state, including metropolitan, country and geographically isolated sites.
With a focus on accelerating the Standard Australian English proficiency learners need to access the curriculum, the Manager works strategically and collaboratively to ensure the engagement and wellbeing of children and young people from culturally and linguistic diverse backgrounds.
The Manager undertakes high-level liaison and negotiation across the system including with other directorates and school leaders to ensure state-wide strategic and quality improvements to IELP/NAP programs and professional learning that builds teacher and leader capacity Qualifications Essential: A tertiary qualification in education and current teacher registration.
Desirable:



Experience in contemporary evidenced informed EALD practices.
Special conditions The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
