SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client, a well-established automotive service and repair business based in Sunshine, Victoria.
Providing a comprehensive range of automotive servicing, diagnostics and mechanical repairs for passenger and light vehicles, the business is committed to delivering reliable workmanship, high-quality customer service and productive vehicle solutions.
Operating within a busy, fully equipped workshop environment, the business maintains high safety and workmanship standards, utilising modern diagnostic equipment to ensure servicing and repairs are completed accurately and efficiently.
Position: Motor Mechanic (General) Location: Sunshine, Victoria **** Salary: $79,000 – $89,000 plus superannuation per annum Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent THE ROLE We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to undertake a broad range of vehicle servicing, diagnostic and repair work.
The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to providing safe, high-quality workmanship and customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Inspect and diagnose light vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical faults affecting engines and other vehicle systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in key components, including engines, transmissions, steering and associated systems.




• Interpret diagnostic indicators and warning lights using appropriate diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
• Perform scheduled servicing and routine maintenance, including oil changes, tyre replacement and other preventative maintenance.
• Dismantle, repair, replace and reassemble vehicle components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safe working procedures.
• Test engine and vehicle performance, including acceleration, idling and general operation, to identify faults and assess repair outcomes.
• Prepare detailed vehicle inspection reports, repair plans and other required documentation.
• Inspect and maintain workshop tools and equipment to ensure they remain safe and operational.
• Road-test vehicles as required to diagnose faults and confirm completed repairs are effective.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to maintain high standards of workplace health and safety.
• Communicate with customers regarding identified faults, recommended repairs and ongoing vehicle maintenance requirements.
• Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship, professionalism and customer service.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:



• Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (or agreed equivalent).
• Minimum of one year of post training experience working as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive workshop environment.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, service and repair a broad range of light vehicles.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills and proficiency in using automotive diagnostic and repair equipment.
• Physical capability to safely remove and refit major vehicle components using appropriate workshop equipment.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle roadworthiness standards and requirements.
• Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety requirements within an automotive workshop.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A valid Australian Driver's licence, with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
• Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
