The organisation delivers road construction, maintenance, asset management and infrastructure programs that keep communities connected.
Based in Hay, this role joins a practical, safety-focused regional construction team delivering important road infrastructure works.

About the Role Join a regional road construction team supporting safe, quality infrastructure works across Hay and surrounding areas.
You will undertake hands-on construction activities, quality checks, site documentation and general labouring while working both independently and within a crew.
Occasional regional travel and overnight stays may be required.
Position : Works Assistant (PQR) Pay Rate : $***** per hour + superannuation Location : Hay, NSW Expected Duration : 21 September ******** November **** Anticipated Hours : 8.5 hours per day, 76 hours per fortnight (9-day fortnight) Travel : Regional travel and occasional overnight stays Accommodation : Provided when camping away, plus applicable allowances.
Accommodation while working at the depot not provided.
Key Responsibilities Support road construction and maintenance activities.
Complete works to required quality standards.
Perform site inspections, measurements and quality checks.
Maintain accurate safety, quality and construction records.
Identify and resolve routine site issues.
Escalate complex issues to relevant supervisors.
Work safely around live traffic environments.




Undertake labouring and general construction duties.
Follow WHS, environmental and safe work procedures.
Check works against specifications and project requirements.
Record site information using computers and tablets.
Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks and team meetings.
Communicate with crews, contractors and the public.
Provide practical guidance to team members when required.
Suggest improvements to safety, quality and productivity.
Travel to regional worksites when operationally required.
About You You are a reliable, safety-focused construction professional comfortable working outdoors and around traffic.
You can work independently, contribute to a crew and maintain accurate records while completing practical site duties.
You will ideally have: Civil construction, roadworks or maintenance experience.
Current Construction Industry White Card required Current unrestricted Class C driver's licence or higher required Current Workers on Foot or ability to obtain before starting.
Ability to work safely near live traffic.
Sound WHS and construction safety knowledge.
Willingness to undertake physical labouring duties.
Basic construction documentation and record-keeping skills.
Sound computer and tablet skills.
Robust attention to quality and detail.
Ability to follow procedures, specifications and instructions.
Practical problem-solving skills.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and within a crew.
Flexibility to work outside regular hours when required.
Willingness to travel and occasionally camp away.




Ability to complete references, ID and Police Check requirements.
Valid unrestricted Australian working rights.
