Location: Strathpine, QLD Hourly Rate: $ *****/hour + superannuation Contract: Initial 3-month contract with possible extension We're seeking an experienced Principal Floodplain Management Engineer to join the council team on a contract basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified engineer to provide specialist technical expertise across floodplain management, complex flood investigations and flood infrastructure planning within the Moreton Bay region.
The successful candidate will provide expert technical advice, undertake complex floodplain management investigations and contribute to the planning and delivery of flood studies, infrastructure projects and strategic floodplain management initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Provide specialist technical engineering advice on floodplain management, including flood modelling and the development and maintenance of Council's flood data systems and tools.
Investigate complex floodplain management issues and prepare technical reports, recommendations and presentations.
Coordinate and/or undertake flood studies across waterways and urban environments to support infrastructure projects, strategic planning and future growth.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of floodplain infrastructure projects, including preliminary design, costings and required approvals.
Maintain Council's Regional Flood Database, Flood Check Property Report and other flood-related databases.
Analyse flood data, develop flood risk matrices and prepare reports to inform flood hazard overlays and zones within the Planning Scheme.
Assist with the development and operation of Council's Flood Warning System,
including providing timely analysis and advice during extreme rainfall and flooding events.
Build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective floodplain infrastructure and service delivery outcomes.
Support team capability, continuous improvement and a customer-focused culture.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
Comprehensive experience in floodplain management and floodplain infrastructure planning and design.
Strong experience undertaking complex technical investigations relating to floodplain management.
Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting complex technical reports and recommendations.
Strong critical thinking, evaluation and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
A current C Class Driver's Licence.
RPEQ registration is desirable.
