This is not your typical fitter role.
As a Skitube Fitter at Perisher, you'll work as part of a close-knit, highly skilled maintenance team responsible for keeping one of Australia's most unique alpine transport systems operating safely and reliably.
The Skitube Alpine Railway is a Swiss-designed rack and cog railway connecting Bullocks Flat with Perisher Valley and Blue Cow Mountain.
With extensive underground sections reaching up to 550 metres below ground, the Skitube is a complex operating setting that offers specialist mechanical work you won't find in many other places.
This year-round role offers stability, variety and technical challenge, with the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of rolling stock, track and associated mechanical equipment.
What You'll Be Doing Inspecting, maintaining and repairing rolling stock, rail infrastructure, plant and equipment Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical faults Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance Welding, fitting, fabrication and modifications Completing maintenance records and work orders Supporting asset reliability and minimising downtime Working a variable roster, including night shifts during winter Following safety, environmental and operational procedures What You'll Bring Trade Certificate – Mechanical Fitter (essential) Experience as a qualified Mechanical Fitter Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Welding experience High attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to undertake physical work, including heavy lifting Ability to work collaboratively in a close-knit team Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic approach Desirable: Railway,



rolling stock or rail maintenance experience, along with experience in fabrication, welding or complex mechanical environments.
