Location: Gladstone, QLD Hourly Rate: $85/hour + super Roster: Monday to Friday, Saturdays as required Contract: 12-month contract We're seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join Rio Tinto's One Gladstone Self-Perform delivery team, supporting the annual wall raise programs across the QAL Residue Disposal Area (RDA) and Yarwun Residue Management Area (RMA) .
This is an excellent opportunity for a delivery-focused engineer to play a key role in planning and executing large-scale civil and earthworks programs that are critical to the continued operation of Queensland's alumina refineries.
Working closely with Project Leads, Construction Superintendents, Supervisors, Engineers and operational stakeholders, you will provide engineering and project management support across safety, construction, technical, commercial, quality and delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities: Lead execution planning and coordinate the delivery of annual wall raise programs across QAL RDA and Yarwun RMA.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts and project controls.
Coordinate engineering, procurement and construction activities throughout project delivery.
Provide field engineering support and work closely with construction teams to resolve technical and execution issues.
Monitor construction productivity, project performance and progress against approved schedules and milestones.
Review engineering deliverables, construction documentation, designs and technical specifications to ensure compliance.
Coordinate survey,



geotechnical and specialist engineering services and support constructability reviews.
Manage project risks, opportunities, changes and technical issues impacting delivery.
Support procurement activities, contract interfaces and commercial requirements.
Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are implemented, including inspection and test plans and construction records.
Provide visible safety leadership and actively promote Rio Tinto's safety standards and lifesaving commitments.
Build strong relationships with Operations, Engineering, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the One Gladstone Self-Perform business.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
8+ years' experience in project delivery, construction or engineering roles.
Significant experience delivering civil earthworks, bulk earthworks, mining, infrastructure, dam, tailings or residue projects .
Strong experience in project execution, construction management and/or field engineering.
Demonstrated experience managing project cost, schedule, risk and quality .
Experience working within industrial,



mining or resources environments.
Solid understanding of project controls, scheduling, cost management and forecasting.
Experience with engineering design review, technical assurance and construction documentation.
Strong safety leadership capability and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience working within self-perform, owner team or contractor delivery models is highly desirable.
Current driver's licence.
Experience with SAP, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.
