About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurses to join the Special Care Nursery (SCN) at Casey Hospital.
As part of a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality neonatal care within a family-centred care model. You will have the opportunity to work autonomously while collaborating closely with nursing, medical, and allied health colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for babies and their families.
Key aspects of the role include:
Supporting and educating parents throughout their baby's admission
Contributing to care planning and discharge coordination
Promoting family-centred care and parent empowerment
Participating in quality improvement and clinical governance activities
Managing designated portfolios and contributing to service development
This position requires flexibility to work a rotating roster across seven days, including weekends, public holidays, and night duty.
About Casey Special Care Nursery
Casey SCN is a 20-bed Level 4 neonatal unit providing high-dependency care for newborns requiring specialised support, including CPAP and high-flow respiratory therapy.
Our philosophy of care is centred on supporting babies and families through:
Safe, compassionate, and high-quality care
Respect for all cultures and backgrounds
Parent empowerment and partnership in care
Support for families in their chosen feeding journey
Education and preparation for discharge from the day of admission
Early and safe transition home whenever possible
Following discharge, families can continue to access support through our Hospital in the Home (HITH) and Post-Acute Care (PAC) programs.
As part of Monash Health and Monash Newborn, Casey SCN works closely with neonatal services across the network, including the NICU at Monash Children's Hospital. Our staff are supported by dedicated nurse educators and have access to a wide range of professional development opportunities, including neonatal intensive care experience.
The unit is led by a Nurse Manager and Associate Nurse Managers and supported by an experienced team of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Midwives, Neonatologists, Registrars, Residents, and Allied Health clinicians.

Excellent organisational and time-management skills
A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in neonatal and special care nursing
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
The ability to meet the operational requirements of the position and commence within the month
