Moriah College is a vibrant co-educational Early Learning – Year 12 Jewish Day School located in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. We are seeking an innovative and highly experienced educational leader to join our High School as Head of Learning Excellence and Innovation.
As the Head of Learning Excellence and Innovation, you will lead a strategic agenda focused on strengthening learning outcomes, academic excellence and innovative practice across Years 7–12.
Working closely with the Head of Learning and Teaching and leading the Head of Digital Learning, you will help translate educational priorities into impactful classroom practice, ensuring technology, AI and digital innovation enhance thinking, pedagogy and learning rather than becoming an end in themselves.
About the role
The Head of Learning Excellence and Innovation will:
Lead the Head of Digital Learning to drive technological innovation, AI literacy, digital capability and responsible use of emerging technologies in ways that strengthen learning, critical thinking and academic integrity.
Raise academic standards across Years 7–12 through evidence-informed improvement cycles and consistent pedagogical practice.
Analyse internal, external and HSC data to identify improvement priorities and drive measurable academic growth.
Lead innovative approaches to pedagogy, learning design and experiential learning that deepen student engagement and strengthen academic outcomes.
Drive the development of AI literacy, digital capability and responsible use of emerging technologies, ensuring technology enhances learning rather than replacing critical thinking.
Develop a coherent approach to experiential learning, connecting classroom learning with authentic contexts, interdisciplinary inquiry, service, entrepreneurship,
problem-solving and community engagement.
Lead the strategic provision of enrichment, extension and high-potential learning, ensuring students are appropriately challenged and provided with opportunities for academic stretch.
Work with Heads of Department to strengthen curriculum coherence, assessment practice, differentiation, extension and academic accountability.
Design and lead professional learning, instructional coaching, mentoring and professional growth initiatives
Build the capability of early career teachers, new staff and middle leaders through structured coaching, observation, feedback and professional dialogue.
Strengthen the capacity of Heads of Department to lead improvement, coach their teams and develop emerging teacher leaders.
Foster a culture of professional accountability, academic ambition, innovation and continuous improvement.
About you

You will bring:
Demonstrated leadership experience in raising academic standards and improving student outcomes.
Solid expertise in contemporary pedagogy, assessment, feedback and school improvement.
Experience leading innovative, evidence-informed teaching and learning practices.
A strong understanding of AI, digital learning and technology-enhanced education within a secondary school environment.
Experience leading enrichment, extension or high-potential learning initiatives.
Strong knowledge of differentiation, academic challenge and the design of rigorous learning opportunities for diverse learners.
Highly developed coaching, mentoring, observation, feedback and facilitation skills.
Strong data literacy and the ability to translate evidence into practical strategies that improve learning.
The ability to build trust,
lead change and develop the capability of middle leaders and teaching teams.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across the College community.
High energy, adaptability and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-performing environment.
