provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our purpose is to support healthy and prosperous communities.
In a continued period of growth, we are looking for an Operational Engineer to join our Operational Support & Integration team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving how critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects are planned, delivered and integrated into operations across our service region.
Working closely with operational, engineering and project teams, you will help ensure our assets continue to deliver safe, reliable and efficient services to our customers and communities.

About your new role...
As Operational Engineer, you will provide expert engineering advice and operational support across capital projects, major maintenance programs and asset acquisitions. Acting as a key link between project delivery and operations, you will help translate engineering solutions into practical outcomes that support long-term asset performance, operational efficiency and service reliability.
In this role you will:
Represent operational requirements in capital planning, project delivery and asset management activities through provision of technical engineering advice to support water and wastewater operations
Partner with operational teams to identify opportunities, solve operational challenges and improve asset performance
Contribute to project management activities including business cases, planning, resource management,



contract administration and oversight of minor capital major maintenance and asset acquisition programs
Drive continuous improvement, innovation and the adoption of recent technologies and processes across Service Delivery
This position can be based in Shepparton or Seymour and will require some travel across GVW's service region. Flexible work arrangements are available, where operationally appropriate, in line with GVW policy.
About you...
We're looking for someone with:
Degree or higher in Engineering (mechanical, civil or environmental)
Diploma or higher in Project/Contract Management (or equivalent) preferred
Experience as a Mechanical Engineer ideally within the water or utilities sector
Extensive experience in project, program and contract management
Proven ability to manage infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery and operational handover
High level expertise and knowledge relevant to water and wastewater infrastructure
Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities
Sound knowledge of safety practices associated with project, program and contract management
Please note all applicants must be an Australian Citizen, a permanent resident or have a visa permitting work in Australia and hold a current driver's licence.

Classification GVW4: $102,352 - $123,812 + superannuation (starting salary point is negotiable dependent upon relevant qualifications, skills and experience demonstrated).
Full-time position with the opportunity to discuss flexible work options
12 Rostered Days Off (RDO's) per year
Access to a shared company vehicle for commuting and work purposes (non-private use).
Based in Shepparton or Seymour – this position will work across all GVW sites and a split work location may be negotiated - regional lifestyle perks.
