Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
Student Support Officers work within the school community to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes in partnership with the wellbeing team and the school counselling service. Student Support Officers provide individual and targeted wellbeing support and whole of school wellbeing initiatives and programs that are evidence-based. They have a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies and creating referral pathways for students and families to child and family support agencies.
Essential Requirements




A completed diploma or higher qualification in social work, youth work, welfare or related discipline must be attached along with your application
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Valid and current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Leppington High School is a current comprehensive public high school located on Rickard Road, Leppington, in the rapidly expanding South Western Sydney growth corridor. The school will primarily serve the communities of Leppington and Denham Court, areas that have experienced significant residential growth and increasing demand for high-quality public education over the past decade.
Opening in ****, Leppington High School will initially enrol Year 7 students, with projected enrolments of approximately 213 students in its foundation year. The school will grow progressively as additional year groups are introduced, supporting a projected student population of up to 2,000 students when fully established.




The school is being developed in stages, with Stage 1 providing capacity for approximately 800 students while incorporating the core infrastructure required for future expansion. Purpose-built facilities will include 37 general learning spaces, three support learning classrooms, and a range of specialist learning hubs designed using contemporary learning environments and modern methods of construction.
As a partially selective high school, Leppington High School will offer both a comprehensive educational pathway and an academically selective stream, providing opportunities for high-potential and gifted students alongside a strong commitment to excellence, equity and inclusion for all learners.
