About the role:
Western Health is seeking an exceptional finance leader to join one of Victoria's largest and most complex public health services as Divisional Director Finance.
Reporting to the Chief Finance and Value Officer, the Divisional Director Finance is Western Health's senior operational finance leader, principal financial adviser and key deputy to the Chief Finance and Value Officer. The role provides enterprise-wide leadership across financial strategy execution, performance, sustainability, governance and decision support, helping shape the future direction of one of Victoria's largest public health services.
Working across a health service with annual expenditure approaching $2 billion, the role leads the Finance Division and is responsible for budget and forecast management, financial reporting, funding and revenue optimisation, clinical costing, treasury, financial governance, financial systems and organisational financial sustainability initiatives.
This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with Executive, Board Committees, clinical leaders and government stakeholders while driving financial accountability, value and long-term sustainability in support of delivering the best care for the communities in Melbourne's west.
Key responsibilities:
Lead Western Health's annual budget, medium-term financial plan, forecasting, performance reporting and financial sustainability program.
Provide authoritative and independent financial advice to the Chief Finance and Value Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Executive, Board and senior leaders.
Lead activity-based funding, clinical costing, revenue optimisation, treasury, financial control, statutory reporting and financial systems.
Drive delivery and validation of financial sustainability, productivity and value initiatives, with clear accountability for benefit realisation.
Lead, develop and modernise a high-performing Finance Division, strengthening business partnering, analytics, systems, controls and organisational financial accountability.
About you:
You are an experienced and credible finance executive who combines strong technical capability with commercial judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to influence outcomes across a large and complex organisation.
You will bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification and current CPA or Chartered Accountant professional qualification.
Significant senior finance leadership experience within a large, complex and regulated organisation.




Demonstrated experience leading enterprise budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, control and financial sustainability.
The ability to translate complex financial, funding and operational information into transparent advice, decisions and action.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience advising executives, Boards or Board committees.
Experience in a major public health service or comparable health system, including knowledge of activity-based funding, clinical costing and government funding arrangements, will be highly regarded.
