The Prospect
We are looking for a switched-on, hands-on Yard Supervisor / Yard Coordinator to take ownership of a busy yard in Melbourne's western suburbs.
This is a permanent, full-time Monday-Friday position for someone who knows how to keep a busy yard organised, safe & productive.
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the yard, managing stock movements, coordinating incoming & outgoing jobs, maintaining organised yard stacks & keeping traffic moving safely.
This isn't a desk job. You'll be on the ground, working with the team, solving problems & getting stuck in when required.
The Role Your Responsibilities Will Include
Allocating stock & ensuring the right equipment is in the right place
Maintaining safe, organised & efficient yard stacks
Coordinating incoming & outgoing jobs
Directing traffic through a busy, high-volume yard
Coordinating daily yard activities & keeping jobs moving
Physically assisting with yard duties, cleaning & preparing containers
Inspecting stock & ensuring equipment is presented to a high standard
Using a two-way radio to communicate with drivers & team members
Maintaining accurate computer records & stock allocations
Processing job movements & keeping information up to date
Working closely with Warehouse, Fleet & Operations teams
Stepping into fleet duties when required to cover absences
Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping & yard presentation
Identifying problems early & taking action to resolve them
Ensuring all activities are completed safely & efficiently
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, proficient & switched on, with the ability to quickly understand the operation & take ownership.
You'll Ideally Have
Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, transport,
logistics or similar environment
Experience coordinating stock, jobs, equipment or daily yard activities
Strong organisational & time management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good computer skills & confidence learning new systems
Experience working in a busy, high-traffic environment
Confidence communicating over a two-way radio
A strong safety-first mindset
The ability to manage multiple incoming & outgoing jobs
A practical, hands‐on approach
The confidence to direct traffic & coordinate people around the yard
The initiative to identify what needs doing & get it done
The ability to step up & take responsibility when required
A current Forklift Licence is preferred.
Why This Role?
This is a varied operation supporting a broad range of commercial, construction & major project requirements.
One day you could be coordinating standard yard movements, while the next you're helping manage equipment requirements for a large‐scale project with tight deadlines.
You'll need to pick things up quickly, understand how the entire yard operates & become the person others can rely on to keep things moving.
There is also the opportunity to provide support across fleet operations when required, giving the right person exposure to more than just the yard.
What We're Offering
Monday-Friday fulltime hours
Hands-on leadership opportunity
Busy & varied working environment
Opportunity to take ownership of the yard operation
Variety across yard, stock, logistics & fleet
Competitive hourly rate based on experience & capability
Opportunity for the right person to grow with the business
Location: Based in Melbourne's western suburbs, this role would suit someone living within approximately ***** minutes of the area.
