Kingston Human Capital is proud to partner with the Department of Housing and Public Works in the search for an exceptional executive to lead the department's ICT, digital, cyber security, information management, data governance and emerging technology agenda.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate Services, the Chief Information and Digital Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of the department's ICT, information management and digital strategies. The role provides enterprise leadership and governance across a complex technology workplace, ensuring technology priorities align with departmental objectives and broader Queensland Government requirements.
This is an opportunity to shape a secure, reliable and contemporary digital environment across a major Queensland Government department and its customer agencies. The role will influence technology investment, digital transformation, cyber resilience, data governance and service delivery while building the capability and culture required to support innovation and sustainable business outcomes.
Specific responsibilities include:
Lead the development and implementation of the department's ICT, information management and digital strategies, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and broader Queensland Government requirements
Provide vision, leadership and governance across ICT, digital, cyber security, information management, data governance and emerging technologie
Lead the department's approach to cyber security, information security, privacy, digital risk and technology resilience to ensure secure, reliable and compliant services
Champion user-centred, accessible and inclusive digital service design that responds to customer needs and improves services for Queenslanders, staff, customer agencies and partner organisations
Lead the development and maintenance of ICT architecture, design standards, policies and practices to support effective, efficient and interoperable services
Lead major ICT and digital projects and provide portfolio and program management for ICT investments, including investment prioritisation, benefits realisation and long-term sustainability
Lead ICT governance arrangements and represent the department in whole-of-government ICT forums and committees
Establish and maintain senior stakeholder, customer agency and strategic supplier relationships to support business requirements and whole-of-government opportunities
Provide strategic commercial and vendor leadership across market engagement, sourcing strategy, contract performance, supplier accountability and value-for-money outcomes
Maximise the interoperability, reliability, resilience and continuity of ICT and digital services across the customer base, including disaster recovery and business continuity.
The essential requirements for this role are:
Proven executive leadership experience across complex ICT, digital, cyber security, data and information management environments
Demonstrated ability to translate technology strategy into practical service improvements and measurable business outcomes
Experience providing strategic advice across ICT investment, enterprise architecture, digital transformation, cyber resilience, supplier performance and whole-of-government technology obligations
Strong business acumen and experience across governance, contract management, project and program management and resource management
Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and achieve strategic outcomes
A strong record of building workforce capability and fostering agile, resilient, collaborative and customer-focused cultures in complex environments.
