Where you'll be working:
John Hunter Hospital Engineering consists of 51 staff, and the Mechanical department is a collaborative team of 6 staff that look after all aspects of the Mechanical HVAC, Airconditioning and refrigeration infrastructure for the John Hunter Campus and its ancillary buildings.
This is an opportunity to work for the largest employer in the region which services a population of more than 900,000 across the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast areas. John Hunter Hospital is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma, and teaching hospital.
The NSW Government has committed $835 million to redevelop the John Hunter and John Hunter Children's Hospital. The John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct project will deliver an cutting-edge and integrated precinct with industry-leading facilities. The project will work in collaboration with health, education, and research partners to meet the current and future needs of the greater Newcastle, Hunter New England, and Northern NSW regions.
About the role:
As a refrigeration mechanic at John Hunter Hospital's Engineering Department, you will be performing general reactive work. This involves looking after all aspects of the HVAC and refrigeration breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and testing on all manner of refrigeration and Air-conditioning systems on campus or the Wansey Dialysis facility at Charlestown.
About you:
A Refrigeration mechanic at John Hunter Hospital's Engineering department will have a full trade qualification, an appropriate Refrigeration Handling Licence and post trade qualifications would be highly regarded,
the work is general reactive breakdown repairs, preventive and statutory maintenance as well as work across the plant areas of a largehealth facility. If you can demonstrate 5 years employment in the trade, you will have a starting remuneration at level 4 ($*****) in line with the NSW Health Skilled Trades Award.
How you'll be supported:
A Refrigeration mechanic will work closely with mechanical trade qualified staff in the department and will also be supported by the JHH Mechanical Supervisor & John Hunter Engineering management. There are opportunities to undertake internal training through the MyHealth learning system and staff that undertake post trade studies may be supported with study leave.
