Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO)
that has been providing services to Aboriginal people in South Australia since ****.

About the role
The Clinical Nurse sits above the day-to-day Registered Nurse role and provides clinical leadership and oversight across the facility.
You will be responsible for overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of resident care; coordinating care for residents with complex or acute needs; supporting and supervising RNs, ENs and care staff; maintaining appropriate clinical standards; supporting staff development; contributing to rostering and clinical staffing decisions; and working closely with the Clinical Lead, facility leadership, GPs, allied health professionals, residents and families.
The role also has an important quality and governance component.
You will participate in clinical audits and continuous improvement activities, help maintain appropriate clinical procedures and documentation, monitor care standards and support the facility's ongoing compliance and quality activities.
You will also provide leadership to the clinical team through supervision, feedback, mentoring, performance support and the identification of staff development and training needs.
This is a hands-on Clinical Nurse position
Although this is a senior clinical leadership role,
it is not a desk-based or documentation-only position
.
AEV operates as a lean residential aged care service and currently supports ***** residents. The Clinical Nurse needs to remain willing and able to work clinically and assist the team directly when required.
This means that where operational circumstances require it—for example, an unexpected RN absence, the Clinical Nurse may need to
step into direct RN duties and resident care
, including medication management and hands‐on support to residents and Care Workers.
Applicants who are seeking a position involving clinical administration or management only, without direct resident care, are unlikely to be suited to this role.
About you
To be successful, you will need:
Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
At least 3 years' post-registration clinical experience as an RN
, together with substantial experience in residential aged care.
Demonstrated experience in
clinical leadership, supervision or management within an aged care environment
.
Strong clinical judgement and the confidence to manage and elevate complex resident‐care matters.
Experience supporting, mentoring and providing direction to RNs, ENs and care staff.
Sound knowledge of aged care clinical practice, quality requirements, clinical governance and continuous improvement.
Experience with care planning, clinical documentation, audits and incident management.
The ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal Elders, families and communities.
A genuine willingness to provide
direct and hands‐on resident care when required
, in addition to carrying out the leadership and governance responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse position.
Strong communication, organisation, problem‐solving and team leadership skills.
A current National Police Check, or willingness and ability to obtain a satisfactory check before commencement.
Unrestricted working rights in Australia. ACS is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Previous experience working with Aboriginal people or Aboriginal communities is highly regarded, but is not essential.
Before applying
This position is located
onsite at Aboriginal Elders Village, Davoren Park SA ****
.
Please check the location and your ability to travel to the facility before submitting your application.
Applicants must also be comfortable working in an
Aboriginal‐specific residential aged care workplace
, providing direct care to Elders when required and participating in a rostered after‐hours telephone on‐call arrangement.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received and the selection process may commence immediately. The vacancy may close early if a suitable candidate is identified.
If you have applied for a nursing position with ACS within the last 12 months, please do not reapply.
