Full-time, Permanent — Onshore based
Shape the People Function in a Growing Survey Business
EGS Survey Australia is hiring a Senior HR Advisor to work alongside our leadership team and drive effective people practices across the business. We operate two 12 m Uncrewed Survey Vessels, our 44 m offshore survey vessel MV Shark1 is on station and working off the Australian coast, and we have a strong pipeline of Offshore Wind, Oil & Gas, Defence, Telecommunications and Nautical Charting projects.
As we grow, we're building our team to match — and that's where you come in. You'll be backed by external specialist HR consultants on complex matters, but this is a hands‐on role with real ownership, not a seat in a big HR machine.
Who We're Looking For
We're after a confident, proactive HR professional ready to take broad ownership of the people function. The framework and external specialist support are there; you bring the practical judgement, the work ethic and the ability to turn policy into something that actually works on the ground.
This role suits either an HR Advisor ready for a genuine step up, or an experienced advisor looking for a hands‐on environment where their input shapes how the business runs.
About the Role
Office-based at our Fremantle office, with occasional travel to our Henderson facility and other EGS sites as required. Standard 38-hour onshore working week, Monday to Friday.
You will report directly to the Operations Manager and General Manager, working closely with leaders across the business to establish, run and continuously improve our HR systems, processes and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
HR Foundations & Documentation
Develop, review and maintain employment contracts, HR policies, procedures and core documentation

Establish and embed practical HR frameworks, systems and internal processes
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on HR matters that impact operations and performance
Lead or support organisational change initiatives
Employee Relations & Performance
Provide workplace relations support, including preparing written correspondence and assisting with meeting preparation
Guide managers through performance management — goal-setting, managing underperformance, documentation and difficult conversations
Support fair, consistent disciplinary and grievance processes
Assist employees with workplace issues, concerns or grievances
Legislation & Award Compliance
Stay across changes in the Fair Work jurisdiction, modern awards, legislation and HR best practice
Ensure EGS Australia remains compliant with applicable awards and employment obligations
Translate legislative change into practical, usable business guidance
Training & Development
Coach and train managers on key HR topics, policies and procedures
Deliver training to employees on workplace expectations, policies and procedures
Culture & Engagement
Identify workplace issues and trends and implement solutions to address them
Support initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement and the employee experience
Support remuneration reviews and frameworks
Conduct salary benchmarking

About You
Minimum 5+ years' demonstrated experience in an HR Advisor or similar role
Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources (or equivalent experience)
Sound understanding of the Fair Work jurisdiction and contemporary awards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal
Able to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
A strategic thinker who can turn ideas into action
Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
Experience in the offshore, maritime or resources sector highly desirable
Eligible to work in Australia; full Australian driver's licence
Why EGS?
A genuine chance to shape the people function in a growing business — your input shapes how EGS runs
Backing from external specialist HR consultants on complex matters — you won't be left to figure it out alone
Variety — offshore wind, defence, cable route, oil & gas and hydrographic projects
Modern Fremantle office, walking distance from the train station, CBD and South Beach
Career progression for the right candidate
Stable, permanent role within a globally recognised survey group
Strong team culture across both Fremantle and Henderson
$110,000 – $125,000 + super, depending on experience
