The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded
Senior Accountant
to join our Finance Team in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, management accounting, payroll oversight, business partnering, and financial guidance across the organisation. You'll play a key role in supporting business decision-making through financial analysis and insights, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, and legislative obligations. This role also has responsibility for leading and developing an
Assistant Accountant
, making previous leadership, mentoring or coaching experience highly desirable.

What You'll Be Doing:
Prepare monthly financial reporting and supporting financial data.
Prepare statutory financial statements and associated notes.
Coordinate audit requirements and respond to auditor queries.
Assist with income tax and fringe benefits tax requirements.
Prepare and lodge statutory returns.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory obligations.
Management Accounting
Prepare monthly management accounts, reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
Manage intercompany eliminations and consolidation processes.
Deliver meaningful financial analysis, including budget, forecast and variance reporting.
Assist with annual budgeting and regular forecasting activities.




Maintain fixed asset and intangible asset registers.
Prepare and analyse weekly cashflow forecasts.
Support payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with relevant legislation.
Business Partnering & Financial Guidance
Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights and recommendations.
Deliver financial analysis that supports strategic and operational decision-making.
Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to review financial performance against budget.
Identify financial risks, opportunities and process improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support reporting, planning and business performance.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor and support an
Assistant Accountant
.
Contribute positively to team culture and role model NAK's values.
Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training activities.
Develop and monitor KPIs for direct reports.
Provide coaching, feedback and performance management where required.
About You:
You're a proactive and detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys translating financial data into meaningful business insights.
You build solid relationships at all levels of the business, communicate confidently with stakeholders, and are passionate about continuous improvement. You take pride in delivering accurate financial outcomes while balancing the leadership responsibilities that come with supporting and developing others.
Whether you're presenting financial results, analysing business performance,



or coaching a team member, you bring a collaborative approach and a strong commercial mindset to everything you do.
What You'll Bring
CA or CPA qualification, open to those who are still in progress of completing either of these.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
Minimum 4+ years' experience in a financial or management accounting role.
Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting and Australian taxation requirements.
Experience in management accounting, budgeting and financial analysis.
Previous leadership, mentoring or people management experience.
Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with NetSuite highly desirable.
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking and organisational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to diverse audiences.
