$117,401 - $131,096 per annum plus Super and RDOs

About the role
Lead the team that protects Council assets and keeps development moving safely across Boroondara. Reporting to the Coordinator Asset Protection and Permits, you will oversee the administering of asset protection permits, public authority consents, bond management, vehicle crossovers and more.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining people management, technical advice , regulatory oversight and responsive customer service.
Key responsibilities
You will lead, coach and support a specialist team to deliver efficient, consistent and customer-focused services.
You will oversee asset protection permitting to ensure decisions are high-quality, accurate, consistent and timely.
You will provide clear advice on complex permit and infrastructure matters, including traffic management, work zones, road openings, vehicle crossings and legal point of discharge.
You will manage service performance, resources and escalations while building strong relationships with contractors, developers, public authorities and internal teams.
You will drive practical improvements that lift efficiency, reduce risk and strengthen the customer experience.
About you

You will have strong digital capability and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to quickly use systems and improve operational service efficiency.
Experience in asset protection, permits, infrastructure, local government, building, construction or a related regulatory field will be highly regarded.

Employment Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction, Building, Local Government, Business or a related discipline coupled with subsequent relevant experience, or a less formal qualification with extensive relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing a multidisciplinary team, including but not limited to performance management, mentoring, training and workforce planning.
Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills with and the ability to deal effectively with property owners, builders and developers in an assertive, confident but respectful manner to gain cooperation in complying with local laws, permits, consents and bond conditions.
Traffic Management Plan (TMP)
training and/or experience assessing Traffic Management Plans within a regulatory, construction or local government environment is highly regarded.
