About the role
The Staff Specialist is responsible for the delivery and management of high-quality inpatient, outpatient and community Diabetes and Endocrinology Medicine services, ensuring clients receive evidence-based care to optimise and maintain their functional outcomes.
Key duties of the role
Participate in the provision of a high standard of clinical services to patients of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Service using evidence-based practice.
Foster a positive and safe work environment, ensure clinical records are maintained in accordance with organisational policies, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and practice within the specialty.
Ensure undergraduate and postgraduate training in the discipline of Paediatric Medicine services is facilitated.
Leading the unit and participating in quality management, quality assurance and risk management activities and ongoing improvement of services.
Contribute to the ongoing review of Credentialing & Scope of Clinical Practice for medical staff.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally.
Leadership, management and motivational skills to maximise individual and team performance.
Previous experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology Medicine at a Senior Registrar/Fellow level.
