Excellent Prospect! Our client who is the market leader in the packing industry is seeking to appoint a Mechanical Fitter for their FMCG facility in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be preforming maintenance of the site's production equipment to ensure production rates remain at the optimum level, you will be conducting maintenance of associated plant, equipment and fixed property and handling the management of a preventative maintenance program to ensure there are minimal unplanned stoppages and breakdowns.

Duties:

- Inspect, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and repair all equipment as required
- Implement isolations as required to conduct maintenance and repairs
- Respond to breakdowns
- Make adjustments to ensure smooth operation of equipment and machinery
- Partake in daily job changes
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance tasks including but not limited to lubrication, inspections, testing, equipment exchange and overhaul.
- Repair plant and ancillary equipment to standard quality requirements
- Report all items that cause machinery to perform under standard and record all machine anomalies to the engineering department
- Preventative maintenance tasks

Qualifications Required:

- Trade Certified
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space Ticket
- Restricted Electrical Licence

Experience Required:





- Previous experience working in a FMCG manufacturing environment as a Fitter
- Work effectively within a fast paced, manufacturing environment
- Sound numeracy and literacy skills in understanding both verbal and written instructions, and to update production data using the Windows-based operating system
- Organizational skills with proven ability to apply problem solving and decision-making skills within a production environment
- Willingness to learn new processes & procedures; a strong mechanical aptitude is a distinct advantage
- Proven ability to work both co-operatively and independently in a team environment with the potential to develop team leadership capabilities
- Good knowledge of occupational health and safety work practices and proven ability to operate and comply with hygiene and quality standards in a food manufacturing environment
- Ability to find root cause and present solutions to ensure machines keep running.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to remain professional and calm under pressure.
- You must be comfortable working in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- You must be willing to work to flexible hours (including weekends).
