About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. About the Division
The Assurance, Knowledge and Executive Services Division (AKESD) provides expert advice and support to the department through a range of portfolio, advisory and assurance services, including:
- Internal audit, VAGO audits, School Council Financial Assurance program
- Cabinet and Parliament support, including board appointments
- Freedom of Information
- briefings and correspondence support
- the Departmental Liaison Unit
- privacy advice and support
- records and digital content management, SharePoint and copyright advice and support
- mail services
The Knowledge Privacy and Records Branch within AKESD is responsible for leading the department's management of corporate knowledge, privacy, intellectual property, and records. This accountability includes leading and supporting departmental compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
About the Role
This is an ongoing role.
The Records and Mail Support Officer (Customer Support Officer) is adaptable, works well in a small, busy team and enjoys helping people. This role provides a range of operational records management and mail services supports.
Your typical duties will include:
- Processing incoming mail and parcels, mail digitisation and receipt and dispatch of parcels.
- Responding to routine records retrieval requests
- Providing routine records and mail services advice consistent with departmental policy and related guidelines
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department's records management and mail services.
- Contribute to the implementation of the department's records management program and support compliance with the Public Records Act 1973 and related Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) Standards.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Desirable:
- 1+ years experience in a mail room or managing public records in complex organisation
The role is an onsite role with the opportunity for some flexibility, in accordance with the Department of Education Versatile Work policy. When onsite you will be based at 2 Treasury Place, East Melbourne.
