Donnelly Law Group
Southport
Donnelly Law Group is a criminal and traffic law firm on the Gold Coast. We act for people who have been charged with an offence and have to go to court — most of them for the first time in their lives.
Every day, people find us and reach out. They are frightened, they are embarrassed, and they have no idea how any of this works. Someone has to pick up the phone, understand what has happened to them, explain what we would do about it, tell them what it costs, and ask them to go ahead. That is this job. It is the most commercially important conversation in our business and we are looking for one person to own it.
People who have overperformed in this role have a genuine ability to listen, build strong rapport, and use it to create a meaningful connection and sell.
What you'll do
• Speak to every current enquiry that comes into the firm.
• Run 20-minute confidential review calls: understand the person, understand what happened, explain the process and how our lawyers would handle it.
• Take payment, or structure a payment plan, and open the file so our lawyers can get to work.
• Follow up everyone who hasn't gone ahead yet, properly and persistently.
• Keep the record straight: accurate notes the lawyers can act on, and an outcome logged for every enquiry,
every day.
What we're looking for
• A proven phone closer. You can tell us your call volumes, your conversion rate and your average sale — and
the numbers hold up.
• Warmth without judgement. Our clients are having the worst week of their life and many are ashamed. If you're not comfortable acting for people charged with drink driving, assault, drug or domestic violence offences, this isn't the role for you.
• Organised. Eight to sixteen calls a day, and every one of them closed out the same day.
• Someone who wants to stay. This is a sole-closer role, and it matters that you're here in two years.
Legal experience is not required, and this is not a legal role — we'll train you on everything you need to know about the process. Sales experience in a regulated or professional services environment (finance, insurance, health) is a real advantage.
What you get
A minimum base salary of $80,000 plus super
• A monthly commission schedule that rewards conversion and the value of new business you bring in, weighted so that strong performance pays substantially more than hitting target. On-target earnings are around $120,000–$125,000, with real upside above that.
• A full calendar. We advertise heavily — you will not be cold calling or prospecting. The enquiries come to you.
• Proper training on our process, our systems and our approved answers, plus regular call coaching with the General Manager.
• A small, fast, genuinely friendly team at our Southport office, and work that matters to the people on the other end of the phone.
• Working amongst a strong professional culture, everyone with the firm is working towards the same goal and goes out of their way to support one another.
More about the role
• This is an on-site role in Southport. It is not a work-from-home role.
• Calls are recorded and reviewed with your manager — it's how we coach, and it's how we keep the standard.
• You are not a lawyer and you will not give legal advice. We'll give you approved answers to the questions clients ask most, and everything else goes to the lawyer.
• There is some after-hours contact. Court dates don't move for anyone.
How to apply
Apply with your CV and a short cover letter telling us about a sale you closed on a first phone call — what the conversation looked like, and how you asked for the money. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to join a brief phone screening, complete a short written exercise and then a role-play interview at our Southport office
