We are seeking an experienced Right to Information Officer to manage and process information access requests in accordance with relevant Right to Information legislation.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in law, governance, information access or the public sector who can confidently manage sensitive information, interpret legislation and work to statutory deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage Right to Information applications from receipt through to completion.
- Assess requests in line with relevant legislation, exemptions and statutory timeframes.
- Provide clear and practical advice on information access obligations.
- Communicate professionally with applicants, internal stakeholders and external oversight bodies.
- Manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records, files, SharePoint information and reporting.
- Support statutory reporting requirements and continuous improvement of information disclosure processes.
- Work independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.

What We're Looking For

You will ideally have:

- A Bachelor's degree or higher, with relevant experience in law and/or corporate governance.




- Knowledge of Right to Information, Freedom of Information or comparable legislation.
- Understanding of statutory obligations, exemptions, timelines and review/appeal processes.
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound, ethical decisions.
- A current driver's licence.

Desirable Experience

- Previous Right to Information or Freedom of Information experience.
- Local or other government-sector experience.
- Experience using SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
- Understanding of transparency, accountability and public-sector governance principles.

Pre-Employment Requirements

The successful candidate may be required to complete relevant pre-employment checks, including a police check, medical assessment and applicable working-with-vulnerable-people registration.
