About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join the Camden Care team in Greystanes, NSW. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing meaningful support to individuals with disabilities. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our mission to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities, providing person-centred care and assistance that enables them to live as independently as possible. Your contribution will be instrumental in creating positive outcomes and fostering dignity and respect for every individual we support.
We have a wide variety of shifts available:
- Monday - 7:00am-9:00am, 3:30pm-9:30pm
- Tuesday - 7:00am-9:00am, 3:30pm-9:30pm
- Wednesday - 9:00am-6:00pm
- Thursday - 7:00am-9:00am, 3:30pm-9:30pm
- Friday - 7:00am-9:00am, 3:30pm-9:30pm
- Saturday - 9:00am-6:00pm
- Sunday - 9:00am-6:00pm
Key responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner
- Support individuals with activities of daily living and community participation
- Assist with meal preparation and nutrition support tailored to individual needs
- Accompany service users to medical appointments, social activities and community outings
- Maintain accurate and timely records of support provided and any concerns or observations
- Communicate effectively with service users, families, carers and the wider support team
- Promote independence and encourage individuals to develop current skills and confidence
- Respond promptly and professionally to requests and unexpected situations
- Follow all relevant policies,
procedures and safeguarding protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
What we're looking for
- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to delivering person-centred care
- Relevant formal qualifications such as a Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (or willingness to undertake this qualification)
- Experience working in a disability support, aged care or community services setting is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships
- Patience, empathy and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals with diverse needs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, duty of care and confidentiality principles
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks safely, including assisting individuals with mobility
- A valid Working with Children Check and/or clearance from your respective state authority
- Reliable transport to reach Greystanes, NSW and various community locations
- Flexible approach to casual work with availability to work varying shifts as required
