Purpose:
- Lead the development and initial implementation of a current Council-wide Social Media Strategy,
including recommendations for resourcing, governance and ongoing management of Council's social
media channels.
- The role will review Council's current social media activities, engage with key stakeholders, analyse
audience and channel performance, to design a future model that will improve coordination,
consistency and effectiveness across Council's social media presence.
- Working closely with the Communications Unit, the position will also support the planning, scheduling
and publishing of content across Council's social media channels. The role will collaborate with the
- Manager Communications, Digital Transformation team and Executive Manager Office of the CEO
and will operate alongside the Council-wide Communications Review to ensure social media
recommendations align with Council's broader communications direction and future service delivery
needs
Accountabilities:
- Develop a Council-wide Social Media Strategy that defines the purpose, objectives, audiences,
channels, governance arrangements and measures of success for Council's social media activity.
Review Council's current social media channels, practices, resources and performance to identify
strengths, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Use human-centred design principles to engage stakeholders across Council to understand
current challenges, opportunities and service needs and incorporate these into future
recommendations.
- Analyse audience data, channel performance and engagement trends to support evidence-based
decision-making and improve future content and channel management.
- Develop recommendations for a practical operating model, including roles, responsibilities,
approval process.
- Support the Communications Unit to plan, schedule and publish high-quality and engaging social
media content across Council's social media channels.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and social media contributors to
improve coordination, consistency and accountability across Council's social media activity that
results in stronger story-telling.
- Assess current resourcing, capability and support requirements and develop recommendations to
strengthen social media management across the organisation.
Deliver priority improvements during the project, including enhancements to planning, reporting,
content standards, author guidance and channel management practices.
- Work closely with the Communications Review project to ensure recommendations are aligned
with broader communications and operating model outcomes.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Council policies, brand standards, governance
requirements, records management obligations and relevant platform requirements.
