Our client is a well-established global automotive company, we are seeking an experienced Feature Systems Engineer to join a leading automotive Product Development team based at Lara.
You will lead feature and systems development from concept through to production, working across vehicle architecture, CAN communications, requirements, validation, safety, compliance and technical issue resolution.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to vehicle development and wants to work across both engineering and real-world vehicle validation.
Key Responsibilities
Feature & Systems Development
- Lead feature development from concept through implementation, validation, launch and field support.
- Define system interfaces and topologies, including network, wiring and power distribution.
- Define CAN communication requirements including signals, transceivers, receivers, data rates and enumerations.
- Review and cascade system requirements and specifications to affected subsystems and components.
- Apply MBSE tools such as SysML, Cameo and Simulink where applicable.
- Support business cases, benchmarking and vehicle attribute target setting.
Safety & Compliance
- Audit DFMEA and Failure Mode Avoidance documentation, verification plans and quality records.
- Lead and support Functional Safety activities including HARA and ISO 26262.
- Support Cybersecurity activities including TARA.
- Contribute to regulatory and compliance activities.
Verification & Validation
- Review and maintain feature verification methods, including Ford Test Procedure Specifications (FTPS).
- Develop and execute validation plans across Breadboard, HiL and vehicle testing.
- Develop real-world and edge-case test scenarios.
- Integrate vehicle models, software and configurations to support pre-production verification.
- Review test results and sign off feature performance in conjunction with Vehicle Evaluation & Verification teams.
Technical Leadership & Issue Resolution
- Lead issue triage, root-cause analysis and resolution with internal teams and suppliers.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques including 8D, Fishbone and Is/Is Not.
- Use JIRA to maintain full issue traceability.
- Communicate technical issues, risks and resolutions across Engineering, Programs and Leadership teams.
- Collaborate with UX, HMI, Connectivity, Marketing, Core Engineering and supplier teams.
- Lead milestone closures and drive continuous improvement across technology, cost, quality and customer experience.
About You
- 3+ years' experience in systems engineering within automotive or an equivalent V-model development environment.
- Experience across requirements/specification development, verification and validation, DFMEA, test plans, quality records, issue resolution and milestone closure.
- 3+ years' hands-on experience with CAN network analysis tools, such as Vector CANalyzer
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve software and CAN communication issues.
- Strong understanding of electrical/electronic vehicle architecture, distributed features and system interfaces.
- Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional engineering teams.
- Strong systems-thinking, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to challenging assumptions and identifying practical solutions.
- Strong commitment to product quality and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
