- Employment type: Temporary full-time, 6 months, with the possibility of extension
- Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10 $133,348 - $146,945 pa plus superannuation

Join the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) in a purpose-driven role within the People Strategy & Operations team. This role provides operational and technical people and culture guidance to AHO leaders and staff, supports effective people management, and contributes to people, performance and culture initiatives that improve outcomes for our wonderful staff who in turn are supporting Aboriginal communities across NSW.

You'll work in a collaborative team of eight, providing People & Culture services across AHO. While the initial engagement is six months (starting ASAP), there may be opportunities for extension or future roles.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an organisation uniquely positioned at the intersection of NSW Government and Aboriginal community wisdom.

Your role

The successful applicant will partner closely with the Manager People Strategy & Operations and the broader People team to deliver client-focused HR advice, case management support, and workforce planning and analytics. The role carries scope to supervise and develop others, and that scope can grow for the right person as the team evolves.

What you'll do

- Develop, analyse and manage systems and processes to support People, Performance and Culture activities and delivery of services such as employment conditions, job evaluation, workforce planning, performance management and interpretation of human resource legislation, policies and processes.
- Participate in project teams and coordinate and manage designated human resource project activities to achieve human resource objectives.
- Provide advice to clients to develop awareness of human resource policies, to promote compliance and facilitate best practice outcomes and mitigate risk.
- Provide case management support to the People team that is in line with policy and legislative requirements and facilitates best practice outcomes

What we're looking for

You are an experienced people and culture professional with a genuine customer service and problem-solving mindset. You can hold a complex or contested matter - including grievances and challenging conduct and performance issues - with care, resilience and sound judgement,

applying policy confidently to find a practical way forward. You are versatile about how the work gets delivered, and you hold a deep respect for Aboriginal culture that guides how you shape solutions.

What you'll bring:

- High level knowledge of human resources legislation, policies, practices and strategies.
- Sound experience implementing client-focused human resource strategies, programs and services.
- Proven experience managing complex, sensitive employee matters, including grievances and conduct or performance issues.
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively within a close-knit team, at all levels.
- Experience working in a NSW Government human resources environment, or a comparable public sector setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
