Terrain NRM is a community-driven, independent, not for profit environmental stewardship organisation. We think innovatively and act collaboratively, combining the latest science with local knowledge to develop sustainable solutions to increase the resilience of the rainforests, reefs, landscapes and local communities of Australia’s Wet Tropics region.
You Are:
This role leads and coordinates the development, governance and continuous improvement of organisational information systems, digital platforms, spatial technologies, data architecture and business technologies. Leading strategy through identifying and realising opportunities to utilise technology for business operations, project delivery, monitoring, analysis, reporting, information management, automation and organisational decision making.
The role provides strategic leadership to ensure organisational systems are integrated, fit-for-purpose and aligned with business needs, enabling efficient operations, informed decision-making and continuous improvement. The role also supports team and activity planning, including for organisational improvement and digital transformation projects; stakeholder engagement, including change management and user adoption; maintaining a strong understanding of organisational business processes, information requirements and technology opportunities. Certainly not lastly, there must be a component of leading the team in all the areas of capability, skills and knowledge, and values.
Flexibility available for the right person to undertake 0.6 up to 1.0 FTE to ensure the role is successful for you and us.
Capabilities:
▪ Lead the strategic direction, governance, integration and continuous improvement of Organisational information systems, digital platforms and data architecture.
▪ Lead enterprise business systems,
including Microsoft Power Platform, ArcGIS, SharePoint and associated Organisational systems, ensuring they support business objectives and Organisational performance.
▪ Engage stakeholders and support adoption of systems and technologies to optimise delivery of business objectives.
▪ Coordinate the planning, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of information systems, digital platforms, data capture, management and reporting tools and business applications. Coordinate IT and user logistics, work with departments and team members to ensure the provision of effective IT tools (hardware and software).
▪ Build robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and key partners, including supplier service provision.
▪ Support direct reports and team to plan and prioritise risks, activities and team workloads
▪ Provide leadership and direction to staff responsible for Power Platform administration, GIS, monitoring systems and business intelligence functions.
▪ Provide strategic advice to leadership on digital investment priorities, technology risks, systems capability and opportunities for organisational improvement and innovation.
Skills and Knowledge:
▪ Maintaining awareness of, and working within, business legislation and regulation relevant to the operations of the organisation.
▪ Prepare relevant and timely reports for both internal and external stakeholders
▪ Undertake a balanced approach of people management, technical delivery, and positive financial accountability responsibilities
▪ Implementing best practice with a focus on the business and delivery needs of the Organisation.
▪ Commitment to continuous learning and self-service practices
▪ Relevant degree, or equivalent qualification and considerable experience
▪ Experience in leading IT and Data strategies within a for purpose business setting
▪ Technical knowledge of Microsoft Suite, particularly SharePoint, Power Automate and Power Apps essential.
What's next:
This role is based in the Wet Tropics region, with flexibility to work from one of Terrain’s offices, with hybrid work opportunities for the right person. Travel within the region may be required to support program and stakeholder engagement.
