The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. Based in Acland, a short drive north-west of Toowoomba, NAC has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

About the role:

As NAC continues to progress, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Technology Superintendent to drive the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of our Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) environments. Working Monday to Friday, and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Technology Superintendent will ensure that site technology systems and hardware are secure, scalable, supportable and aligned with operational requirements, business needs and approved standards. You will lead a team of Technology Analysts and drive the implementation of technology changes across site operations.

What you will do:

- Provide daily leadership, direction and support to the site Technology roles, including task prioritisation, coaching, performance support and development planning
- Coordinate the safe and effective maintenance, support and improvement of site OT and IT systems, HME technology, light vehicle technology, and OT and IT hardware
- Act as the primary site coordination point across all site departments and New Hope Group (NHG) Technology, vendors and contractors for OT and IT system priorities, incidents, support requirements, projects and improvement work
- Ensure proposed site technology solutions follow the NHG intake process and align with approved architecture, security, integration, data, supportability and lifecycle standards, with exceptions formally assessed and approved before implementation




- Coordinate implementation of approved cyber security controls across site IT and OT environments, including asset visibility, access control, vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, monitoring support, physical protection and evidence required for assurance activities
- Monitor system performance, recurring defects, maintenance trends and operational risks, and implement practical tactics, repairs or improvement strategies to improve reliability and reduce business impact
- Support technology planning, budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, lifecycle planning, spares management, service agreements and disposal strategies for OT and IT assets

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

- Relevant nationally recognised trade qualification, technical qualification or demonstrated equivalent experience in OT and IT systems
- Demonstrated experience coordinating maintenance, support or project activities across OT and IT in a mining, industrial, heavy industry or similar operational environment
- Experience with OT and IT systems and hardware, including ERP, Contractor Management Systems, Fleet management systems, collision awareness systems, digital radio communications, CCTV, networked field devices, environmental monitoring (Noise, Dust), machine technology, diagnostic systems, networking (Wi-Fi, LTE), business reporting, end-user hardware and supporting infrastructure
- Sound understanding of work management, defect management, change control, risk management, contractor management and safe systems of work within an operational site environment




- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and prioritise the work of technical personnel while maintaining strong relationships with operational departments and external service providers
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, purchasing, lifecycle planning, continuous improvement and vendor performance management
- Strong communication, planning and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to translate technical issues into practical operational actions and explicit business communication
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and ensure activities are performed in accordance with all relevant company, legislative, cybersecurity and SHEMS requirements
