The Role
Reporting to the Chief Capability Officer, the Principal Solution Architect plays a critical role in shaping Aurizn’s future capability growth by translating customer warfighting needs into innovative, technically credible and commercially viable solutions. Working across Capability, Business Development and technical teams, the role combines mission engineering, operational analysis and systems architecting to define solution concepts, identify capability gaps and guide investment, partnering and technology strategies that support Defence outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate customer warfighting requirements and operational outcomes into innovative solution concepts aligned with Aurizn’s technical capabilities.
- Conduct operational analysis and mission engineering activities to identify capability gaps, evaluate mission outcomes and assess solution effectiveness.
- Develop and refine coherent, deliverable solution architectures using systems engineering and systems architecting principles.
- Assess emerging Defence technologies, operational trends and threat environments to ensure solutions remain future-focused and operationally practical & relevant.
- Evaluate Aurizn’s existing capabilities, as well as external technologies,
partners and acquisition opportunities, to address capability and delivery gaps.
- Recommend capability development strategies through internal investment, strategic partnerships, acquisitions or research collaborations.
- Provide technical and architectural expertise to support business cases, strategic growth initiatives, proposals and customer engagements.
- Collaborate closely with Business Development and Capability teams to shape customer opportunities, solution strategies and market growth initiatives.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent demonstrated experience).
- Significant experience in solution architecture, mission engineering, operational analysis, systems engineering and complex systems development.
- Strong understanding of the Defence Capability Lifecycle, including concept development, acquisition, integration, sustainment and transition activities.
- Proven ability to translate complex operational challenges into practical and innovative technical solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across customers, partners and internal teams.
- Experience within Defence, the ADF or Defence industry environments, with knowledge of integrated force concepts, systems modelling or Defence project delivery practices highly regarded.
