About the role

North Coast Mower Centre is seeking a Trade Assistant - Pathway to Apprenticeship to join our growing team in Maleny, QLD. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the mechanical field. As a Trade Assistant, you will work alongside experienced technicians in a hands-on environment, gaining practical skills and knowledge whilst working towards a formal apprenticeship. This role is ideal for school leavers or those seeking to transition into a skilled trade, providing mentorship, structured learning and a clear pathway to skilled qualification.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting experienced technicians with the repair, maintenance and servicing of lawn mowers and outdoor power equipment

- Learning and applying safe workshop practices and procedures at all times

- Preparing work areas and gathering tools and materials required for technician tasks

- Cleaning, testing and performing quality checks on equipment under supervision

- Supporting the dismantling and reassembly of engines and mechanical components

- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and hours spent on tasks

- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and adhering to health and safety standards

- Undertaking training and developing knowledge in mechanical and technical skills

- Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting customer service excellence

What we're looking for

- A genuine interest in learning a skilled trade and working with mechanical equipment

- Physical fitness and ability to perform hands-on work in a workshop environment

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship

- Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced mentors

- Reliability and excellent punctuality





- Ability to work safely and comply with all health and safety requirements

- Sound communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork

- A valid driver's licence is preferred

- No prior trade experience is required—we will provide comprehensive on-the-job training
