We are looking for a warm, confident and curious Head Barista to join Andaz Gold Coast.

The opportunity

As Head Barista, you will lead our coffee program and create thoughtful, engaging experiences across our food and beverage venues.

You will prepare exceptional coffee, guide the barista team and bring the character of Andaz Gold Coast to life through every guest interaction. You will help set the standard for quality, consistency and service while creating a welcoming environment for guests and colleagues.

Whether preparing a morning coffee for a hotel guest, recommending a brew to a local or helping set the rhythm of a busy service, you will play an important role in shaping the atmosphere of the venue.

What you will do

- Lead the daily coffee operation and set high standards for quality, consistency and presentation.

- Prepare and serve espresso coffee, filter coffee, tea and non-alcoholic beverages to a consistently high standard.

- Welcome guests with warmth and deliver attentive, unscripted service.

- Share thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences.

- Build strong knowledge of coffee origins, roast profiles, brewing methods and equipment.

- Train, coach and support barista colleagues in coffee preparation, service and product knowledge.

- Contribute ideas for seasonal coffee offerings, signature drinks and new beverage experiences.

- Maintain coffee equipment to a high standard and complete daily cleaning and maintenance procedures.

- Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked coffee station.

- Complete opening and closing duties accurately and efficiently.





- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, stock rotation and inventory control.

- Work closely with floor and kitchen colleagues to create a seamless guest experience.

- Support events, activations and special service periods when required.

- Follow all health, hygiene, safety and food-handling procedures.

- Help create a positive, collaborative and inclusive environment for the team.

Qualifications

About you

You are approachable, composed and naturally engaging. You enjoy reading the room, connecting with people and creating experiences that feel personal rather than scripted.

You will bring:

- Previous experience as a Head Barista, Senior Barista or in a similar leadership role.

- Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso preparation and brewing methods.

- Confidence using and caring for professional coffee equipment.

- Strong communication, coaching and guest service skills.

- Excellent attention to detail and presentation.

- A collaborative, reliable and solutions-focused approach.

- Curiosity and a genuine interest in coffee culture.

- The ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.

- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

- A current food safety certificate, or willingness to obtain one.

- Must already have current and ongoing working rights for Australia

Experience within a luxury hotel, premium restaurant, specialty coffee venue or high-volume operation will be highly regarded.
