Volunteer Services is seeking enthusiastic candidates to join the team as a Volunteer Coordinator.

With up to 1.2 FTE available, we have the flexibility to appoint up to two successful candidates through this recruitment process, depending on the applicant pool and each candidate's preferred working hours. The minimum appointment will be 0.6 FTE (equivalent to three full working days per week).

The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for coordinating the palliative care volunteer portfolio (four days per fortnight), with the remaining workload comprising one or more existing acute, sub-acute, aged care, or community care volunteer portfolios.

In this role, you will work closely with palliative care volunteers, coordinating their activities and ensuring they are appropriately trained, supported, and working within their role descriptions. You will also provide guidance and support to volunteers who may experience emotional challenges or grief arising from their work with palliative care patients and their families. In addition, the role will contribute to the ongoing innovation, development, and enhancement of current and existing palliative care volunteer programs to meet current and future service needs.

Alongside palliative care volunteer coordination, you will work collaboratively with the Director, Volunteer Services, and other team members to implement the targeted volunteer marketing and recruitment strategy. This work will help increase volunteer participation, support current and future service delivery, and enhance the healthcare experience of both palliative care patients and the broader Bendigo Health community.

As part of the existing volunteer program, you will provide coordination, education, and support to both new and established volunteers across the palliative care portfolio and other assigned areas. Working closely with the Volunteer Services team, you will help foster an inclusive and supportive environment where all volunteers feel valued as integral members of the Bendigo Health family. Through their unique and specialised contributions, volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the experience of care for patients, families, and the wider community.

Your New Division

The Community and Continuing Care Division provides a broad range of high-quality, person-centred care programs and services to consumers in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Each service within the division is designed to ensure holistic care and improve the overall well-being of our patients and communities.





The Community Services team is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing outcomes of the communities in the Loddon Mallee with six regional offices. This team includes: Aged Care Assessment undertaken on behalf of My Aged Care; Community Allied Health; Community Care; Carer Support and Community Nursing & Home Care.

The Continuing Care team delivers high-quality services across the Loddon Mallee region including: Dental Care; Chronic Disease Management; Outpatient Rehabilitation; Support for People Transitioning Home; Diabetes Management and Geriatric Management and Assessment.

The Allied Health team provides comprehensive, high-quality care across the continuum, including expert services in: audiology, dietetics, exercise physiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, psychology, social work, speech pathology and allied health assistants who work with these disciplines.

The Geriatric Medicine Team includes Geriatricians, Rehabilitation physicians, Palliative care physicians, registrars and junior medial staff. The Team work across inpatients, outpatients and home settings.

The Clinical Support Services team includes Medical Imaging incorporating BreastScreen, Pharmacy and Pathology.

In addition, the Community and Continuing Care Division holds the professional portfolio of Chief Allied Health Officer. The Chief Allied Health Officer and allied health discipline managers provide skilled governance for all allied health across Bendigo Health.
