We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant looking to build their experience within financial services while continuing to develop their technical accounting capability.
Working within Financial Control, you’ll support day-to-day accounting and month-end activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit requirements and process improvements across the Finance function.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting month-end processing, including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and investigating reconciling items
- Supporting the preparation of financial reports, management reporting packs and supporting schedules
- Reviewing and investigating P&L; movements to support accurate financial reporting
- Assisting with financial year-end audit deliverables
- Supporting day-to-day Finance Operations activities and approvals
- Working with stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Operations and Technology to resolve finance queries
- Identifying opportunities to streamline manual processes,
improve controls and enhance reporting accuracy
- Maintaining accurate documentation of finance processes
- Supporting ad hoc finance projects and other accounting activities as required.
What we’re looking for
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
- Be currently working towards your CA or CPA qualification
- Corporate accounting experience, with exposure to day-to-day accounting and month-end activities
- Ideally, 1–2 years’ experience within financial services
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.
Exposure to lending, banking and Microsoft Dynamics D365 would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
