AustCorp Executive is partnering with a well-established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join its engineering and maintenance team in the Newcastle region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified fitter who enjoys fault-finding, improving equipment reliability and working within a fast-paced production environment.
The role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment and supporting reliable site operations. Your duties will include:
- Completing planned, preventative and reactive maintenance
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns
- Maintaining conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics and hydraulic systems
- Supporting production teams to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance
- Carrying out equipment installations, modifications and improvement projects
- Identifying recurring faults and contributing to root-cause investigations
- Recording maintenance activities accurately within the site CMMS
- Maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping
- Working closely with electricians, operators and other members of the engineering team
About you
To be considered,
you will ideally have:
- A recognised Australian Mechanical Fitter trade qualification
- Previous maintenance experience within manufacturing, mining services, food and beverage, packaging or another industrial workplace
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown response skills
- Experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics and production machinery
- Welding and fabrication capability would be highly regarded
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- A strong commitment to workplace safety
- Flexibility to work the required roster and participate in overtime when needed
