$70,000 - $80,000 base + performance bonus
If you train, and you know good kit from bad, this one's worth a look.
We're opening the first SA1NT Layers store of our own in Hawthorn in a few weeks, and we're looking for the person who'll run it.
The strongest version of this hire already lives in our world. You run, lift, play or compete, and you can talk fit, support and recovery because you've felt the difference yourself. The retail side we can build on. That part's harder to teach.
Who we are
SA1NT Layers is the performance arm of SA1NT - compression, run, gym and training apparel, developed with sports scientists and worn by professional athletes. Our founder has co-founded and scaled a global sports apparel brand before, and brought key players from that team with him. Two years in, we've outgrown our shared space. Hawthorn is our first store of our own, and you'd be the one who opens it.
The job
Set the tone on the floor. Our customers are runners, lifters and everyday improvers - the store should feel like it belongs to them, and that starts with you.
Give people a proper fitting experience. Expert advice, sharp merchandising, and a standard of service that matches a science-led brand.
Own the numbers. Sales targets, rosters, labour costs, stock integrity and day-to-day P&L.;
Build the community. Partnerships with run clubs, gyms, physios and sporting clubs across Hawthorn and the inner east and representing us at local activations and events.
Grow the team.
Recruit and develop staff who can talk compression and fit credibly, and who genuinely care how customers perform.
Why it's a good move
You'll have more say here than at any established chain - how the floor runs, who you hire, which clubs you partner with. Decisions happen quick, not through layers of approval. We're a small, hands-on team who are in and out of each other's work every day, so you won't be running this alone - and there'll be more stores to grow into as we open them.
Who you are
You've led a retail team - whether that's running a store, or as a 2IC who's ready for the step up
A genuine connection to sport and training - you live this category, not just sell it
Commercially sharp - comfortable with targets, rosters, stock and reporting (POS experience useful, Shopify a plus)
Good with people - you lead from the floor, not the back office
Keen to build something rather than maintain something
Bonus points if you've opened a new store before, have a background in coaching, exercise science or allied health, or already have networks in Melbourne's running and gym communities.
