About the Role
With continued growth across the City of Wanneroo, an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Senior Building Surveyor to join our award-winning Building Services team.
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering regulatory building control functions and providing professional advice to residents, industry professionals and internal stakeholders. You will ensure building applications are assessed efficiently and consistently, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and delivering outstanding customer service.
This role offers more than traditional building surveying responsibilities. As part of the City's commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, you will have the opportunity to contribute to digital transformation initiatives, including the development and implementation of AI-enabled solutions that enhance assessment processes, improve customer experience and support more efficient service delivery.
Working closely with the Coordinator Building Services and leadership team, you will help identify opportunities to modernise regulatory services, streamline workflows and shape the future of building regulation within one of Western Australia's fastest-growing local governments.
You will be responsible for:
- • Assessing building applications within statutory timeframes while ensuring compliance with the Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012, Building Code of Australia and Residential Design Code;
- • Providing professional advice and a high level of customer service to applicants, residents, industry professionals and internal stakeholders;
- • Undertaking building inspections, assessments and certifications in accordance with legislative requirements;
- • Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and City requirements while supporting achievement of statutory performance targets;
- • Investigating complex building matters and providing recommendations and solutions based on sound technical judgement; and
- • Contributing to service improvement, digital transformation and AI-enabled initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, customer outcomes and regulatory service delivery.
About You
You are an experienced Building Surveyor who enjoys working in a energetic and evolving environment.
You combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- • Qualification in a relevant discipline such as an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Building Surveying;
- • Registration as a Building Surveying Practitioner with the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety;
- • Significant experience in a building surveying or related regulatory environment;
- • Solid knowledge of relevant building legislation, standards and regulatory frameworks;
- • Exceptional customer service and stakeholder engagement skills;
- • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities;
- • A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and embracing new technologies; and
