About the Role

As the Senior Water & Environment Advisor, you will provide expert technical advice on environmental management, water and wastewater systems, regulatory compliance, and sustainable project delivery.

You will play a key role in supporting complex environmental initiatives, ensuring projects meet legislative requirements while achieving practical and sustainable outcomes. This position is suited to a motivated qualified who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

- Provide specialist advice on environmental management, water management, water conservation, wastewater treatment and disposal activities.
- Assist with the planning, implementation and monitoring of environmental management programs and initiatives.
- Contribute to the delivery of environmental management services, with a particular focus on water management, water conservation, wastewater treatment and disposal, and environmental compliance.
- Provide contemporary advice and practical solutions to environmental management issues through strong technical knowledge, research, and analytical skills.
- Apply a professional and client-focused approach to all work activities while operating within organisational policies, legislative requirements, and public sector obligations.
- Take responsibility for delivering assigned outcomes,



managing priorities effectively, and maintaining a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with clients, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, briefing materials and project documentation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Degree-level qualifications in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or another relevant environmental discipline.
- Experience in environmental compliance and regulatory oversight (for example, a former DETSI officer).
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience in water and wastewater treatment, particularly in relation to ERA 63 activities.
- Technical understanding of water management, water conservation, wastewater treatment and disposal systems.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience delivering environmental outcomes within project-based environments.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and technical documentation.
