About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer or Associate to join a high-performing Government Advisory team in Melbourne.
Working alongside highly regarded Partners, you will become part of a collaborative practice acting for a major Commonwealth Government client. You will take carriage of your own matters while receiving excellent mentoring and development, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in administrative law and government advisory.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Drafting summaries of evidence and statements of issues.
- Preparing litigation strategies and legal submissions.
- Appearing at directions hearings and assisting with case conferences and substantive hearings.
- Undertaking complex statutory interpretation and administrative law analysis.
- Working closely with senior lawyers and Counsel on significant merits review matters.
About You:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally possess:
- Approximately 3-6 years' + post-admission experience.
- Experience in government advisory, litigation or administrative law, or a genuine interest in developing your career in these areas.
- Strong drafting, analytical and statutory interpretation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to learn and develop.
This opportunity would suit someone currently working within government who is looking to make their first move into private practice, or a junior lawyer in private practice seeking greater exposure to complex administrative law and government litigation.
