We are looking for an experiencedSenior Network Engineerto join our team and take ownership of the design, optimisation, migration, implementation and lifecycle management of a large, multi-site network environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise inCisco routing and switching, combined with experience managing complex, legacy and poorly documented network environments. You will be responsible for taking initiatives fromcurrent-state assessment and target-state design through change approval, implementation, validation and closure.
This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong technical judgement, structured problem-solving and the ability to deliver safe, resilient changes across business-critical networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing network infrastructure, services, traffic patterns, utilisation and dependencies across multiple sites.
- Analyse existing network architecture and make recommendations toretain, consolidate, scale down, migrate, refresh or retireinfrastructure.
- Develop target-state network designs and detailed migration strategies, considering:
- Network resilience and availability
- Capacity and performance
- Connectivity and routing
- Management and out-of-band access
- Operational and business impact
- Validate technical requirements, assumptions and dependencies with platform owners, service owners, project managers and other stakeholders.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, including:
- High-Level and Low-Level Designs
- Network diagrams
- Implementation plans
- Risk and impact assessments
- Validation/test plans
- Rollback and backout procedures
- Own network changes end-to-end through thechange-management and CAB process.
- Perform hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and implementation of:
- Routing and switching
- WAN/LAN connectivity
- VLANs and trunking
- Routing protocols
- Network management and access services
- Lead or support the migration and retirement of legacy technologies, includingX.25, serial connectivity, terminal servers and console servers.
- Coordinate implementation activities with field engineers, remote-hands teams, network carriers and third-party service providers.
- Ensure all operational records are accurately maintained, including:
- IPAM
- DNS
- AAA
- SNMP/syslog/NTP
- CMDB
- Asset records
- Circuit and connectivity records
- Monitor implementation progress and provide senior-level technical escalation and troubleshooting support during critical changes.
- Analyse network configurations, traffic flows, monitoring data, logs and packet captures to identify root causes and design improvements.
- Identify opportunities to simplify network architecture, reduce technical debt, improve resilience and optimise operational costs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to network engineers and implementation teams.
Required Technical Experience
- 6+ years of hands-on network engineering experience, with proven ownership of assessment, design, change and implementation activities.
- Strong hands‑on experience withCisco IOS and IOS‑XE.
- Strong understanding and troubleshooting experience with:
- OSPF
- BGP
- Static Routing
- VRFs
- VLANs
- 802.1Q Trunking
- Spanning Tree Protocol
- First-Hop Redundancy Protocols
- Proven experience developingtarget-state network designs and migration strategiesfor consolidation, scale-down, refresh, migration and infrastructure retirement.
- Strong understanding of network resilience, capacity planning, service dependencies and business impact.
- Experience working withlegacy and end‑of‑life network technologies, particularly:
- X.25
- Serial connectivity
- Terminal servers
- Console servers
- Good knowledge of network management and out‑of‑band access technologies, including:
- SNMP
- Syslog
- NTP
- TACACS+
- RADIUS
- ACLs
- Jump hosts
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to analyse:
- Network configurations
- Traffic flows
- Logs
- Monitoring alerts
- Packet captures
- Strong experience withITIL/change‑management processes, including impact assessment, implementation planning, rollback planning and CAB presentations.
- Understanding of physical network infrastructure, includingcabling, patching, circuits, rack infrastructure and carrier connectivity.
- Experience using network monitoring, documentation, diagramming,IPAM and CMDBtools.
- Excellent stakeholder communication, technical decision‑making and risk‑management skills.
- Experience working in alarge enterprise, service‑provider, carrier or multi‑site network environment.
- CCNP certificationor equivalent hands‑on technical expertise.
- Network automation experience usingPython, Ansible or similar technologies.
- Migration projects

- Experience managing network circuits and working directly withthird‑party carriers and service providers.
- ITIL andServiceNowexperience.
- Exposure to related technologies such as:
- Firewalls
- DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)

- Enterprise monitoring platforms
