About us:The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a unique Department of Education school located within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre in Wacol.Supporting young people aged 10-18, BYETC plays a vital role in empowering students to build knowledge, develop practical skills, and strengthen the values needed for positive decision-making and future success.At BYETC, education is more than a classroom experience, it's a pathway to opportunity. Our dedicated team works closely with students to foster confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose, helping them make constructive choices both during and beyond their time in detention.Operating 48 weeks per year, BYETC offers a structured yet rewarding teaching environment. Teachers and Vocational Trainers benefit from the same leave entitlements as those in mainstream schools, with scheduled breaks often occurring outside standard school holiday periods,Your opportunity:We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic, and industry-skilled Vocational Trainers-ITD to join our team in a temporary full-time capacity through to 20 January 2027, unless otherwise determined.Positions Available:1 x Vocational trainer (specifically construction/metal work)1 x Vocational trainerResponsibilities include:Deliver high-quality vocational education and training programs that equip students with practical trade skills, industry knowledge,



and workplace readiness.Develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople by providing practical training, guidance, and support in a vocational education environment.Work collaboratively within a supportive and rewarding educational workplace to ensure high-quality program delivery and positive student outcomes.Attend and work during designated school holiday periods as part of a team operating across a 48-week annual program, ensuring continuity of training, student support, and program delivery throughout the year.Please view the role description for a full list of responsibilities.Interested?
