THE ROLE -An OPPORTUNITY to Make a difference

Thisisa full-time and permanent role, available for immediate start.

We are seeking an Unrestricted Lawyer to join our multidisciplinary team of lawyers and social workers, providing clients with holistic and integrated legal support.

The role includes:

Family Law casework and trial work

Domestic and Family Violence case work and representation at hearings

Being rostered on as family law duty lawyer at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including court appearances

- Representation at Family Dispute Resolution conferences

Being rostered on as DFV duty lawyer for respondents at the Brisbane Magistrates Court, following accreditation as a domestic and family violence duty lawyer

This is an outstanding chance for a family lawyer with two to three years’ post-admission experience who is looking to develop their advocacy skills and broaden their expertise.



The position will be particularly rewarding for candidates considering a future career at the Bar or aspiring to practise as an Independent Children’s Lawyer.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Apply well-developed knowledge of family law and domestic and family violence law to deliver high-quality casework and trial work across the relevant programs, as well as rostered duty lawyer services.

- Collaborate with social workers to provide holistic, client-centred services to a diverse range of clients within a human rights framework.
- Deliver community legal education, build sector relationships, participate in professional networks, and contribute to law and policy reform.
- Demonstrated experience in family law and domestic and family violence law
- Bachelor of Laws
- Eligible for admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland
- Current Unrestricted Practising Certificate
- Ability to complete the Legal Aid Queensland domestic and family violence duty lawyer accreditation
